RIP Frank Gardner OAM - Merged
It is with a heavy heart I type those words. I'm sure most would agree that his lofty achievements, in so many facets of life, are too many to try and summarise, at the risk of doing the great man an injustice.
To me and my family, he was our friend and an inspiration. Frank was truly one of the greats. I feel honoured to have known him. Chris Bowden. |

Great driver and with some superb one liners to describe some of his racing experiences. A sad loss.

Frank was a legend who I had the privilege of watching racing in the 60s/70s whether it was in Alan Mann's Escort or Falcon, the SCA Camaro, the GT40, or in F1 or F5000. A great memory I have of Frank was a titanic battle he had in the Ford F3L with Denny Hulme in Sid Taylor's Lola T70 at Silverstone, until I think something broke. RIP

How appropriate that it is the Gold Cup meeting at Oulton Park this weekend. I am sure that Frank will be fondly remembered by many of those in attendance.

Always very sad to lose someone of his stature. Found this clip of Frank in a car which I always associate with him- at Oulton which is fitting considering it is Gold Cup w/end- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5EgZYIB2qk
Also, this interview is worth reading- http://www.sportscars.tv/Newfiles/gardner.html |

Well done to Frank for all his achievements behind the wheel and while using his experience when running teams for others.
I'm sure his plain talking style will be missed amongst today's practices blurb from all in various teams when in front of a camera. RIP Frank, will be missed by many! |

Over the years I've owned 3 of the cars he built but had never met him, sadly I'll not get the chance to now. He, and his achievements, have had a profound influence on my aspirations and I thank him for the memories he has left me with. He touched so many people over the years I'm sure the tributes will continue to flow for some time.
To his family and friends my sincerest sympathies. If there are any typos in this post forgive me, I can't type very well at the best of time let alone through the tears at the moment. Thanks Frank, rest in peace |
