Format for the All Star Event

The 2011 Sprint Showdown:
· Segment 1: 20 laps with a caution at the end, teams can elect to pit, but lose position
· Segment 2: 20 green flag only laps
. Top two finishers earn a berth in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race
. The driver with the most votes of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Showdown also earns a NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race berth
The 2011 All-Star Challenge race format is as follows:
· Segment 1: 50 laps with a mandatory green-flag pit stop on Lap 25 at which time teams must pit and take on four tires. Following the end of Segment 1, the caution flag will be displayed for an optional pit stop.
· Segment 2: 20 laps with the caution flag displayed at the end of Segment 2 for an optional pit stop.
· Segment 3: 20 laps with a 10-minute break at the end of Segment 3. Teams may make normal adjustments to their cars during this break. The finishing order after the third segment determines the field’s lineup for the pace lap prior to the start of the fourth segment.
· Segment 4: Once the field takes a lap behind the pace car, all cars must enter pit road for a four-tire stop. The order in which the cars exit pit road is how they will line up for the 10-lap shootout with only green-flag laps counting.(3-17-2010)

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm hoping for some fireworks that leaves steaming tempers and mangled race cars in its wake.

See...that is what this race is supposed to be. I don't want it all the time, but it is what I have come to expect from the AllStar Race. And I recall last year's being relatively tame.

GOOD STUFF DAVID! Congrats to him and hope he can put in a good performance in the AllStar event.

Too bad, I had to fast forward through the pre-race and driver/team introduction. What I miss?

Kesolowski and Kurt Busch look to be out already with brake issues and terrible car/pitstop/penalty, respectively, after the mandatory green flag stop on lap 25.

Nice. Blatant commercialism. Fair play, it worked. I've now checked out what exactly Lowe's is (I only knew it was something to do with DIY). Although there isn't much chance of me spending $299 there in the near future.
