WTCC Macau thread
Priaulx fastest in first testing session. Dirk Muller was 9th. And as for Giovanardi, using his words "Wall just jumped out at him". But car isn't damaged too much.
(I think a new thread is good idea, but do as you wish, mods) |

Hooray! Well done Andy - let's get this title, how fantastic would it be to have Andy as back to back ETCC-WTCC champion!! He is a fantastic driver and I just hope mechanical issues don't decide the title!

Really hope Giovanardi takes it. Would be great to have a reigning WTCC driver in the BTCC.

I'd like to see Giovanardi do it. Sorry to break this British patriotism thing.

sorry but i'd have to go with Andy P for the win and championship, that would be a great result, lone uk beemer against a fleet of factory Alfas and works german bmw's, that almost makes andy the underdog, go for it my man.

i was watching the qualifying on tv in macau.. alot of incidents..i think just about every alfa has been crashed a fair bit, couto locked the brakes and hit the front, breaking the steering.. farfus had a crash i think, tarquini hit a corner and then rydell drilled him..
i'm looking forward to the racing tomorrow |

Beyond Priaulx (good luck Andy!) - I don't mind Gio legitimately winning it as that would be a considerable climb back.
By the way, great job by Chevrolet first time here, definately looking like they could be in there and at least looking for wins next season...if the drivers re-sign at least (though it'll be hard with 12 BMW's and Seat's at the front!) Now...also well done Alfa for that 2-3-4 (and wake up Thommo!)...however, Andy's going to be a bit of the greyhound bunny tomorrow, as if those Alfa's get near him, he's toast! |

So, according to MST Timing's qualification results, Poon, Takeutsi, Lo and Ao were disqualified. Are those drivers allowed to partisipate the race? IMO Poon, Takeutsi and Ao should be allowed because Takeustsi and Poon weren't that much slower than ATCC pole sitter Scharmach and Ao didn't get any kind of time... But Lo was outside of 110% of Priaulx's pole time so in my opinion he shouldn't be at the grid.

Should the FIA loosen up like Nascar which allows for special exemptions at times for those who qualify outside the 110% requirement? |

That rule has been any number of times in the BTCC and with the one-lap qualifying in F1 now at almost every Grand Prix this year. The important point is that it is at the stewards' discression. Had it been Priaulx or one of the Mullers that broke down after only 1 lap then I don't doubt they would have been let in. The 3 local guys (actually 4, one didn't set a time at all) are a different story. All 3 managed 8-10 laps in Qualifying, and the same in Free Practice but never came anywhere near setting a suitable time. In such a situation would it have been safe to let in 3 back-markers who were significantly slower than anyone else. |

What kind of benefit Chevy actually gained? Shouldn't rules be same for everyone (yes I understand 10kg(?) lightenemt for hatch back because of earo offs).
In 2006 Lada will use Opel C20XE -engine. If something is old engine, that is! |
