The National Racing Archive is also a good source for research, you email them with your request & if they find anything they charge a small fee - presumably it also relies on donations
www.motorracing-archive.com/
Like most of sites mentioned they also need accurate input to continually update their records

Motorsport have put their records on dvd - you can buy individual yearly records I believe, thier record list is getting bigger as they copy them
www.motorsportmagazine.co.uk/dvd-archives/

Also another list of the best History sites on the web

Can't find a good site for Rally history - I don't suppose the UK & European local clubs supply historical details into a central database

Not to mention this forum - there is a search facility.

Plus our Driver Files, and our Chassis History Archive, which, is a research/discussion facility, hopefully making useful contributions to this excellent site:-

Thanks John - I forgot to mention that although the chassis history file I always assumed was for more elite famous cars (DB3S - DBR1 - BMW 3.0 Batmobiles, Jaguar C & D types, etc.) with proper history, now, if I could only find my ancient volumes of On Four Wheels as it mentions some really obscure drivers

Sorry, I didn't respond to this. No, it's for any car that has been raced; if you browse through the 11 or so pages of the archive you will see some fairly obscure machinery amongst the better known racing marques. On those, we tend to start the discussion here, but once developed with enough info, they get moved into the archive for continued development/additions etc.

great - now if I could just find a rally site like those - possibly Irish & Isle of Man, etc.
Are there any hillclimb & sprint archive sites of interest .
