Remind me how much I could have won on betting on Button for the championship

Not long before the season began, yet when it was already clear Brawn were going to be at least quick, I recall 100-1 odds. I've never betted in my life (save for slot machines in the odd arcade, and about three lottery tickets) but I knew at the time I ought to.

I would've probably put a tenner on.

Well done to whoever it was here who did bet on him. I remember there was someone.

Actually, I think the odds dropped pretty quickly as soon as the Brawn ran and was clearly quick because I di have a look. I don't think you can really beat yourself up. If betting was simple we'd all be gazzillionaires.

It's because I knew at the time I ought to do it. I was surprised how long the odds were after it was clear the Brawns were quick. I thought it was 100-1 in some place/s even quite close to the time, although I might be getting my dates mixed up, i.e. 100-1 the week before, and the week I planned to do it (the week of the race) it being 50-1.

Don't forget he does have to win the championship for anyone to collect.

It's so long ago that I forget the odds, but my son put £20 each way on Vettel to win and as that was before the Brawn had appeared and shown its blinding early pace, it was a pretty good call. It looks like he should be collecting something.

Sev has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I put money on Button at the end of the 3rd day of testing - I got 8/1.

I think before the first day it was 250/1.
After it was 50/1.
Second day 25/1.
Third day 8/1.

Something like that...

Yeh I mean, I bet on him to win the first race and won around £60, so that'd suggest odds of around 60/1 for a race win. Championship, I think it was around 100/1..?

Ohhh silly me

I tipped Fisichella at 14/1 to win the 2005 season opener and Hamilton at 10/1 to win this year's Hungarian Grand Prix. On both occasions I forgot to put the bet on but my non-F1 supporting pals who took my advice won big.

My only ever gambling success in F1 was the 2008 Monaco. I put a fiver on Hamilton when he left the pits after his shunt and got £30 back.

I betted for Barrichello 20/1 and Button 11/1 just before the season(odds were getting down), 4euros to each. Hopefully Rubinho will take it :P

I just assumed that the Brawns were running on fumes in preseason testing, with sum kind of secret supercharger installed, so that they could post quick times in order to attract sponsership.
