Deemun should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
British Formula Ford 2010!

Well I guess it's time to make a start on this thread. Racing at least, for the 2009 season, is now over and James Cole and Chrissy Palmer should be congratulated on their respective triumphs in the MSA British Championship and the Formula Ford Festival as should the Jamun Team on another lock out.

But what of next year? Will there be a change of tyre supplier and if yes will it level the field at all? Will we see teams running 2010 spec cars with the impending 2011 safety modifications on the horizon or will they hang onto their current cars? Will the championship include an overseas round again (Spa?) or stay within the confines of the UK? How many race weekends (9/10?) and rounds (20-25??). Presumably it will remain with the SRO F3/GT package.

What of the teams? Any new or returning entrants on the horizon? And finally who will be the drivers and the contenders? We already know that Josh Hill is confirmed for a 2nd year with championship team Jamun and they will be looking for a strong performance from him. I've also heard that Raysport have re-signed their current drivers Jaffer & Mingay. Cammish has stated that he is very likely to return but hasn't said if that will be with KMR and it's interesting that he should choose to miss the 09 Festival in favour of an ADAC round abroad. Speaking of KMR they seem very likely to have Castle Combe FF1600 ace Marcus Allen on board next year. Who else are we likely to see in the championship and where are tey coming from? Karting? Saxmax? FVee? FF1600?

It will be interesting to see who is out testing and in what over the coming weeks. Watch this space!

Should be the best year for a team to take it off Jamun with the tyre manufacturer changing, But you will need to be running a few cars to find the set up quickly. So it will still go to a big team! Would be refreshing to see a different chassis wining next year!

All being well Dan will be out in Formula Ford for 2010 and will start some testing in November.

I think Dan De Zille will also be back with Minister.

Is the change of tyre manufacturer really going to happen?? And are there any other potential candidates?

There will be 2011 upgrade kits to make 2010 cars comply with 2011 rules.

Scott with be staying with returnees Cliff Dempsey in 2010 I believe.

Who will Butcher drive for if at all??

Not heard about tyres changing.....

Scott Malvern hasn't agreed a drive with anyone yet for next year but naturally he would love the chance to race in Duratec.

Similarly Cliff Dempsey is yet to confirm whether or not he will return to the MSA Championship in 2010, although I for one and I'm sure many others would love to see him back and knowing how he operates I'm sure he could do a great job!

I am sure cliff would come back in a shot but like most teams there are not many drivers with a full budget

Interesting for FF1600 & Duratec??

Just Duratec would effect Zetecs assume rule changes would apply to us too, can't see Avon making 50 sets we use in Europe in a year!

If they switch to Dunlop I cant see it being for Zetecs - the change will most likely necessitate new wishbones and a few other changes to allow for the extra camber that dunlop radials will probably need.

would make sense to remain but will Avon continue to produce them...may be adjust compound to make them super soft so you can beat the Duratecs

I've heard that there are new chassis rules coming in for FFord in 2011, including a sequential shifter. Anyone got any images?

OK. Round up of where we are so far:

Tyre contract looks like being awarded to Dunlop. Announcement very soon and expect one or two of the leading teams to be undertaking some "safety" tests.

Looks like a lot of teams will be running with their current cars given the changes set for 2011.

The sampler day is set for Rockingham on 2nd December see http://www.britishformulaford.co.uk/...009/021109.htm

Teams & driver combinations. Still early days but a few now more or less confirmed whilst others being narrowed down and obviously lots of talking going on. Be interesting to see who tests what in the coming weeks. Based on what is known so far.

Jamun 4 cars: Josh Hill (confirmed) + 3
Fluid 3 or 4 cars: Vernon? Butcher?
KMR 3 cars: Allen (more or less confirmed) Pye? Jones?
JTR 2 cars: Green?
Getem 2 cars:
Juno 2 cars: Williams/Harper?
Raysport 2 cars: Jaffer/Mingay (both more or less confirmed)
CDR 2 cars: ??
Minister: DeZille?
Enigma?

Fluid have had a young driver in the car at a few tests. Think he is Scandanivian but dont know a name.

Alex Jones looks like hes joining Cole and Newgarden next year as he was seen testing a T-Sport national class car recently.

Deemun you mention Williams (Luke?) and Mark Harper at Juno. But what about Felix Fisher, I wouldve thought he would be a strong candidate for them next year.

Nils Vestergaard has tested with GV Racing, he may be the next Benelux driver to tackle the British Championship.

Some people tested yesterday at snett.

Jamun - Hill, Cammish
Juno - Harper
Minister - De Zille
Raysport - Jaffer

I was told by a mate who was working with another team who happened to be there that Hill and Cammish were setting the pace as you would imagine but apparently Jaffer was within a tenth of them both and sometimes quicker.

Would be great to see the Ray running at the front again next season and mixing things up a bit more.

Wonder if Cammish has signed up with Jamun?

testing was delayed a little due to fog and the track was a little damp in the morning but Cammish and Hill were the pace setters. Dan finished on a 1m 10.3 and Hill on a 1m 10.5. Both only running on old tyres from the festival. Josh stayed for another day and managed 1m 9.7 on new tyres.

Jaffer did show some improvement and finished the day on a 1m 11.2 closely followed by de Zille who was bedding his car back in after a roll at the festival. Mark Harper was well off the pace in the 1m 14's with a number of offs....
