Introducing Beechdean Mansell Motorsport
There's already mention of this new partnership on the 'Le Mans Series 2010' thread, but I think the interest this programme will garner deserves a dedicated thread..............
The details of this new venture can be found here. Needless to say, this is fantastic news for ACO regs racing in Europe (on several levels). We know the drivers, but what of the car? It's a Ginetta-Zytek Z09R (first time I've seen the 'R' designation). Which chassis (ex Strakka perhaps)? Which engine will be used (4.0 or 4.5 litre)? Or, given the 'full factory support' status the team will enjoy, could it be a hybrid? Exciting news, great to have Nigel Mansell involved in ACO regs racing. The very best of luck to Andrew Howard and the Mansells! |

Car ..... the 3 Andretti's at Le Mans in 1988 in a Porsche 962C Shell/Dunlop . Great to see mansell back with his brood . I hope they do very well indeed .However , Im not sure on the ACO take on Mansell senior trying top push his car over the finish line . Wasnt Herbert the last driver to passout on the rostrum ? |

It's good to hear and I'm pleased we can add another team on the grid but with respect the two Nigel boys are not very close to his fathers driving skills...

Guess it all appeals to the man in the street and the beer monsters at Le Mans. If it gets an entry to the 24 hrs already feel kinda sorry for McNish et al (you know, the hardcore enduro drivers) with significant focus on the the eyebrowed one from the UK mass media. I never warm to ex-'greats', way beyond their best years, "having a go at Le Mans cos I've always fancied it..." etc. For those that follow footy, liken it to Roy Keane spending last 6 months of his playing career at Celtic ("I always dreamt of playing for Celtic") but making no noticeable contribution. IMO, the mystique of the race is amplified with the participation of drivers on the up / in their prime. I think of Schumacher 91 and, more recently, Loeb. (in the footy context - Henrik Larsson's tenure at Celtic). I await the, all to, predictable excommunication for daring speak against Mansell's attempt to join the grid. If he gets an entry, interesting to see who's on the reserve list. |

not surprised to see Beechdean in the LMS this year, a well placed source told me back last May that Andrew was very keen to race in the LMS in 2010, surprisingly i though i didnt expect a LMP effort. I was expecting a GT2 effort with a Vantage for Beechdean, oh well, life is full of surprises.

Mansell Sr has seemed reluctant to pay for sportscars himself so I'm presuming there will be a big sponsor announcement soon?
Great news though, hoepfully they can build on the Silverstone performance. |

Surely Howard/Beechdean are supporting it in some way financially in return for the exposure they will surely be getting.
Suppose this means Our Nige has finally realized Leo and Greg are not cut out for F1? |

Wow nice to hear. P1, that must be alot for a small team. Well guess not so small to have full factory support. Wonder if they can stick it to the other petrols? 2010 is setting up to be some great racing in the LMS despite the season being on a 'downside'.

Well as this will probably be the closest thing to a werks car that we see, I guess GZ stuff can go in this thread.
There is a piece at DSC on the shake down of Team Bruichladdich's 2010 spec Ginetta Zytek 09SB with pictures. Also in it is the fact that the car ran with a 2010 spec ZG348 engine so it seems it will be the benchmark for the 2011 P-1 engine program. L.P. |

Just seen a pic of the zytek with its new paint scheme for the first time today, and i noticed that there is an IMSA sticker on it. Does this mean some ALMS rounds like Sebring, or is it nothing?
