Approve of Murray Walker's commentary?

What did everyone think of Murray Walker's commentary for the btcc races in the mid and early 90s? I personally thought it brought a great touch to the action and was fun to listen to.

i havent heard any of his touring car commentary but im sure it was as good as his f1 commentary used to be!!!!! his sheer enthusiasm will be missed at the end of the f1 season but its time we got someone who wasnt making 20 odd misakes every race!!!

If the BBC stays with the BTCC, and with Murrey finishing with F1, do you think he might consider going back to the BBC and BTCC to call the races, like he did until 1998.

I give him credit because he is old and when he did the race commentary for the btcc he often did make mistakes, and I can't blame him, really.

That would be cool to have Murray back in the box again. (How would he like to share it with Charlie Cox and the other guy?) (other guy being the name I can't remember right now)

You've got the chance to check on John Watson's name but you still can't get it right, yet you have a pop at Murray for making some heat-of-the-moment mistakes.

Murray hasn't commentated on the BTCC for some years and unless you buy the old season review tapes (which Radisichrox has obviously spent hours watching) you won't hear him do it again.

Yes, in fact I have spent hours watching them! It's mostly because I'm bored and have nothing else to do.

I did mean John Watson.
Sorry about making a pop at Murray. I do like his commentary very much.

I did that years ago too. Probably why i've got such an encyclopedic knowledge of the BTCC.

Lets face it , Murray walker is the voice of motor sport. He can make even the most boring race exciting. Along with all his gaffs he can brighten up any race. It doesn;t matter if its F1 or Touring cars he is still the best!I'll be sad to see him go. Cox and watty aren't bad but they're no Murray walker.

You are absolutley right. The only thing was that Murray never really had a sidekick for the btcc; it was just him in the box. That kind of took away his ability because he had to do both color commentary and play by play.

I though Muarry was good as a BTCC comentator, and worked well with Cox in '96. I think the two of them should get back together, and dump Watson!

I think Charlie Cox is ace! Excellent commenator, very similar to Murray in many ways. But i think John Watson seems very disthused (if thats a word?) about the BTCC at t he mo and would rather be doing F1 on Eurosport. I'd like to see Charlie Cox and Alan Hyde!

I really think it is unlikely that Murray would commentate for the BTCC. But i think Charlier Cox and John Watson are good enough as it is..you know when the Touring Cars are on

I say ditch Watson, and get someone who likes Touring Cars to partner Cox. But who....? Warwick is as boring as hell, and that's about it! Plus he also runs half the cars, Harvey?? -but he's racing now!

I would like to see Harvey in the box . He's got a cool way of talking so he would probably be interesting. Besides, he's got a lot of experience in the btcc so he would know what the drivers are thinking and feeling like. Maybe even Will Hoy...?

JC and Charlie Cox-i really would like to see that, especially JC back in the BTCC. However, he might be back in the BTCC in 2002 as a driver, yes?

Well, since I don't live in the U.K. (I'm in the u.s.) I wouldn't know! Still, it would be nice to hear his voice on the review tapes.
