Dean Stoneman
He had a run today (Oct 1) at Pembrey. Very impressive considerihg first time in car and awful conditions, heavy rain and strong winds. Hope he does well at Barcelona.

Unless they can find a late replacement, it looks like FHV Interwetten.com will be down to a single car this weekend as Bruno Mendez will be in China for the Superleague Formula round in Beijing.
With the appearence of Dean Stoneman in Barcelona, there will have been 27 drivers in FR3.5 this season. When you look through the history of FR3.5, I never thought we'd have a season where less than 30 drivers were used! |

yeah, i think that's a fine demonstration of how strong a series it actually is. to be fair, the only real change motivated by money was bringing rossi in for monaco? and charouz bent himself in training, plus it's not really fair to say hartley's removal was motivated by money. so it's definitely been an interesting year.
give it 2 years and most if not all of this lot will have moved on and we might struggle for drivers with enough money, but renaultsport/rpm are already counteracting that by offering tests to just about anyone who wins anything in europe and some other places at the moment. wise move. |

Does they do the ridiculous chicane before the last turn that F1 does now?

have to say i was impressed with stoneman today. apart from the minor oops in the afternoon he was really good on the new tyres in the second session. interesting to see aleshin's back on it too, though i honestly don't think anyone's going to get the option to beat guerrieri on track.

Ricciardo will be very strong today, he did a lot of work on the setup and went quick straight away with a new set of tyres. It's going to be Ricciardo vs Esteban.

what use is being quick on new tyres? even if it puts him on pole and ahead of guerrieri you can bet your shoes it won't last long!
i think there's definitely a couple of drivers outside of the championship battle who could produce something decent for qualifying. that could be where esteban or ricciardo fall over - trying to get past coletti on low downforce is awkward to say the least. |

did u not see practice results? ricciardo spent all of fp1 on very old tyres working on setup. and in fp2 he put on new tyres for the first time and went p1 straight away.
qualifying on at the moment, currently ricciardo p1, aleshin p2 and esteban 3rd. |

Quote:
in qualifying it was a bit shady that he went off, screwed everybody's last fast lap or two and still stayed on top but that just shows what an excellent job he did with those few laps. incredible pace. and aleshin pulled his earlier season form out of the bag which has to make you wonder what he's been doing for the middle part when ricciardo and guerrieri were catching up really... it'll be interesting to see what happens in qualifying. worth getting up really early to get to the circuit for specially again, that's for sure |

Looks like he has, as per: http://www.worldseriesbyrenault.fr/e...FYING_1-35.CSV
His fastest was .170 ahead of Aleshin. Now it's 0.090. But still on pole C'mon Dan! |

Hmmm, this has a pretty good chance of carnage at the first corner!!
Let's hope Costa doesn't ruin any of the top 3's chances. |

Phew, he didn't!
Ricciardo off like a rocket, Aleshin ok also, Guerrieri struggled on lap one, with Vergne all oveer him, have to see if Esteban comes back into this as the race goes on? |

Today's result sets up an excellent finale. I'm going for Ricciardo, Aleshin seems to be losing his bottle.

Wow, it's not often you see two drivers level on points going into the last race of the year in any given championship!
Before the weekend my money was on Aleshin, but Ricciardo seems to have all the momentum at the moment. It's such a shame that Guerrieri is out of the hunt now. Still, to finish third after missing four races and getting a DQ in another is a huge achievement. Whoever wins the title now, it's been a great year of racing |
