nothing new here, go back to XY, XA, XB etc,

Holden had red manaros

Colour schemmes are planned well ahead, of a vehicle launch.

Don't know about red manaro's but I know they had white Monaro's when Ford was using red Falcon's.... Then it was white with red stripes for Torana's and Marlboro scheme's for the late Torana's and early Commodores.

GTR is talking about how a few years ago ford said, if your v8 supercar is not red, we wont sponsor you. and so triple 8 lost their sponsor

now they advertise with a red car

True although in this case it is FPV doing the add, not Ford and FPV also have an upcoming high performance model which they have already said will be available in an identical red to Moffat's phase III race car.

Can see why 888 might find the add a bit frustrating though.

I can't see 888 giving a hoot what colours Fords come in. Regardless of Fords antics, they finally got what they wanted anyway. To race Commodores.
As for the red Falcon debacle, clearly everyone concerend has moved on. So should the rest of us.

Drove one around Broadford Motorcycle complex back in October whilst on a Unique Cars photo shoot. (december issue last year).

I went like a rocket..... IMO needs a bit of a tweek to the exhuast to get a a nicer growl out of it.

From recollection, Moffat refers to the most powerful Aussie V8 he's driven. Is this true, considering his previous racecraft? Or perhaps, were the V8s from the 70s considered to be US or Canadian, rather than Australian engines?

Relax Forda, was answering post 17 's question....(& it may have been closer to 450 depending on which engine builder you talk to....& then how many beers they've had!)

Allan (yeah I remember him too.......coz I know him!) tells me the Porsche 935 K3 ride at Le Mans in 1980 was his "highest powered" ride with 700 ponies.......& no that's not a dig at Fords btw!

At one point, he had a 'Super Falcon' like big Pete's, if i'm not mistaken, that thing was circa 600 neds?

As for the ad, to the average punter, there's a slight difference between an FPV ad directly advertising a Falcon and a race car being used as a mobile billboard appearing on TV.
