It's going to be really interesting to see what effect the new rules will have at Talladega. Worked quite nicely at Daytona.
Oh and this IS the race Dale Earnhardt Jr. will make a triumphant return to victory lane |

The start has been pushed back 45 minutes as they still have some track drying to do after an earlier rainshower.

Looks like shower back up north and west of the rack with storms down here heading south-southeast today. Might be a short race, so what distance does NASCAR consider a race 'legal?' with regards to heavy rain?

Halfway, so one would think that would be 224.5 miles, but according to Jayski, the race is actually 500.08 miles, so 144 laps. I hate Aaron's and their stupid LuckyDog.

Been a very calm, quiet race. Until just now, when Dave Blaney and Aric Almirola made contact coming into turn four which triggered a multi-car pileup that also involved Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr. and others.

Kurt Busch gained some points from me for the Ricky Bobby livery ("Me" with the cougar) and the Talladega Nights radio chatter.
Their "news" network is atrocious, as it's just a biased propaganda machine that doesn't even attempt to act "fail and balanced", but the coverage of NASCAR has been difficult for me to respect as well. They have that corny "Sideways" theme song that panders to the redneck hillbilly crowd, advertisements slapped just about anywhere that you could think of sticking one, like replacing the position crawl with a bar full of sponsor logos, and they paste childish graphics like the "Crank it Up" stereo speaker thing or a cartoon gopher on the screen. "Oh, things are getting a bit slow. Cue Digger!" (Not sure if they still use Digger.) |

Congrats to Brad Keselowski winning the race after a push from Kyle Busch. Somewhat an anticlimactic semi-boring finish to a semi-boring Talladega race to be honest.

Tony Stewart's take on the race: http://www.sbnation.com/nascar/2012/...012/in/2762971
2 anticlimatic finishes in the 2 first plate races of 2012. Oh well |

I have to say the do they nascar coverage well here in Australia, I think I counted maybe two actual ad breaks in the whole dega coverage, when ever FOX went to ads we just got an on board shot from Jnr and a shot of the leader, nice work Foxsports
Shame no one seemed to want to dance with Ambrose as he looked quick most of the day, was some good pack racing once again and the two car draft didn't just run away. |

I enjoyed the race. Real shame for Kurt, I'd have loved to have seen him win with that car..
It was nice to see actual green flag stops for a change, I was hoping the race would go green til the end, but that didn't happen. |

After Talladega, I can hardly wait for Darlington. Old school one groove at the very top of the track.
