Fastest in both practice sessions and fastest by nearly a second in Qualifying. Well, I'm impressed, but are the right people impressed, after all he didn't come from Formula Ford.
Really, I don't know how anyone could get a 2:13 out of that old banger. |

....maybe Phil Laird is a genius?
Funny, this is the car that Canto wrote off at Bathurst in 1999, and prior to that it was Heffo's car, which admittedly was neat, but that started out life as Bob Jones's car. Funniest thing is that he would have qualified on the grid position behind the PHR car, which is supposed to be the greatest rocketship ever built....so much for that then I'm surprised that someone with as much experience as Mal Rose is so far down the grid... |

Crash, i believe they got rid of the old Bob Jones VP. I think Heffo built this one from scratch as a brand new VS.

In time for the 1998 Race it was reshelled.
And the winner was- WAKEFIELD! White won the start, and WW made it past on about the 10th lap to hold on for a 4sec win |

Great Race by Wakefield - for once I was genuinly glad to see a Holden win. Let's hope he win tomorrow in the Ford to make a unique double.

Good win by Wakefield but also a good drive by White to make a race of it. Maybe a supercar drive not to far off for Wakefield.

yep great drive by both of them..especially to be lapping at the times they were doing in those old clunkers.
just a shame that Simpson got a stop go penalty otherwise he would have been up there as well. felt sorry for ric Shaw after missing out on the 1000 and being relegated to the konica race and then having engine problems..thats really gotta hurt. I still feel those 18 cars or so would have been better off on the 1000 grid tomorrow..well the ones without better drives at least. |
