2016 Watkins Glen
This is the 3rd round of the NAEC and we do have some additional cars entered in the non-challenge classes. Protos have the ESM Ligier/Honda and the Highway to Help car. GTLM has the extra Ferrari, and GTD has a few additional cars. New pavement this year, so if the weather cooperates we will likely see some lap records fall (for the new version of imsa at least). The entire race will actually be shown on FS1 in the US!

btw. now that imsa uses alkamelsystems, you should check during the race if their standard livetiming works. It has got sector times, top speed, driver tracker etc. livetiming.alkamelsystems.com/imsa Last edited by TzeiTzei; 3 Jul 2016 at 06:27. |

Me thinks BMW, Porsche, and Corvette will be more of a match for Ford and Ferrari this time around. Laguna Seca and Le Mans (replace BMW with Aston at L.M) were pretty much Ford vs Ferrari shows. At the time it was a nice breathe of fresh air since Porsche and Corvette battled it out in the first 3 races. This time I hope all 5 makes mix it up.

This is the first race in months for imsa where all 4 classes are on track together. I hope they remember how to play nice.

I'm sure the repave helped, but even so, all four classes took care of their lap records in Practice 1.
P: 1:37.902 (125.023mph), 2014 1:36.705 (126.570mph), 2016 PC: 1:40.562 (121.716mph), 2014 1:38.701 (124.011mph), 2016 GTLM: 1:44.084 (117.597mph), 2014 1:43.574 (118.176mph), 2016 GTD: 1:48.831 (112.468mph), 2014 1:46.147 (115.312mph), 2016 If we can have fairly clear weather, it will be interesting to see what happens here this weekend, as well as at Mosport Park, Road America, and Road Atlanta, later in the season. If it's dry, they'll all be darn fast. |

Larry DeGeorge had a huge accident in the #27 Lamborghini, he climbed out unaided but that car is a mess.

Wow!
And: Ouch! Amazing to see his 'thumb up' while the car is on fire...! I betcha it's the adrenaline, if I would see a crash - and aftermath - like that I would be very, very cautious to report the driver giving the 'ok-signal'. No need to hold back on sending all the available troops to a scene like this! |

(previously in terms of P time = 100%, PC was 2.7% slower, GTLM 6.3% and GTD 11.2% whereas now, PC = P+2.1%, GTLM = P+7.1%, GTD = P+9.8%) |

which, if one accepts the general premise of BoP and what it attempts / should attempt to achieve, is a good thing.

Although after 2 practice sessions it looks like Corvette and Porsche are down 1 second per lap to the turbo GTLMs. But we'll see what happens during the official qualifying and race sessions. Corvette and Porsche had the field covered in the first 3 races. Laguna Seca and Le Mans is where the script flipped.

The "All Show & No Go" IMSA website latest results are from Detroit. Maybe joeb can update the fantasy with that, but any links for the practice session results?

Sportscar365 is pretty good about getting results up.
If the IMSA site itself is being uncooperative, try fanschoice.tv |

He may not have realized he was on fire at that moment, given that the door mirror, and with it the door, are gone. Can not believe he won't wake up for a few mornings with some aches and pains all over, and then the repair bills arrive. Wow.
