Sorry to be the bearer of bad news with the first post of the thread, but they just have to, and must find a better way. Penalise the team instead of the driver. It's just plain stupid.

Totally agree, penalise the team.

It will be interesting to see if Vettel can do what Lewis couldn't and win his home GP. It would appear Ferrari now have the edge over Mercedes, regarding their PU and they are also trying out a new exhaust system. http://classic.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/137536

There is a 2018 F1 Saison Playlist Renault. not sure what the theme is, but they do seem to add tunes based on the race location.

Bit of rain falling. Will it hang around for quali? Would make it interesting if it does.


Talking of dark clouds, there is still a dark cloud hanging over the Ferrari ERS system. Lots of chatter in the paddock that the FiA did not/have not investigated it thoroughly. Conspiracy theorists saying FiA turning a blind eye for the good of the sport, because "if Ferrari wins, Formula 1 wins." The Mercedes dominance is putting the fans off apparently.

Curiously, Ferrari have been very quick since the investigation was closed. A coincidence?

The FiA released this note to all teams yesterday.





Just over 24 hours later, it's raining during FP3! Great work by all concerned.

A chance of showers tomorrow during the race apparently. So the teams may choose to save their wet tyres for the race.

I missed most of Qualifying but saw Bottas do a blinder of a lap to take provisional pole and no sooner had he done that, then Vettee came along, took pole and broke the track record.

Apparently Lulu broke down in Q1. However, as we saw at Silverstone, being at the back of the grid isn't too much of a hindrance for him.

And any team with a MB engine will be parting ways to not bite the hand that feeds them, it's the Renault guys in the middle that will be interesting to see. But the way the track looks it should be interesting but thinking another Vettel run. Until he gets near the front most won’t defend too much as they know ultimately he will get by, especially at Hockenheim, and they will only lose time to the actual people they are battling for position at the end of the race.
