True Mick, true. There is no image. For which we can be eternally greatful.
Fogarty is a over hyped twit who got lucky riding the top Ducati, in a Ducati one make series. Cruel, but true. |

Or maybe it's simply because you linked to a file on your hard disk...! See the FAQ for details of how to post a picture...

How can you say that? How many championships did he win? Isle of man anyone? F1 anyone? Endurance anyone?
The English people love him because he brought Motorcycles back into the public arena, He has to have a big ego in order to win! just like Mick Doohan turned into a psyco between thursday and sunday, because he was totally focused. You have to intimidate the people your racing against, it was just that Foggy's got a bigger mouth! He's just a normal? guy who realised he might be able to make a living out of racing. Like people say you've still got to ride the bike. |

Hmmmm--- i don't think you have to look like a SUPER-MODEL to ride a S/Bike well,or be as charming as say Stephen Fry, i think you need ability, naked agression, and above all the will to WIN. Foggy had all of these qualites and more, if any one of us was HALF as good, we would be polishing TWO W/S/B championship trophy's instead of just TALKING about it, he may have had the best bike, but you still have to produce the goods to win 4 W/S/B CHAMPIONSHIPS. Like him or lothe him untill someone wins 5 W/S/B championships the mantel of BEST SUPERBIKE RIDER the world has ever seen, will rest with him, results speak for themselves.(just my 2 pence worth)

I stick by my original point, Fogarty is a freak.
Plus he claimed he would have beaten Doohan in Grand Prix bikes so obviously that last crash damaged his peanut, sorry...brain, and he has become dillusional as well as intensely annoying. Have you seen the adverts for his Men and Motors show when he pulls strange faces??? I have thrown seven perfectly healthy televisions out the window as a result of that crude, vile attempt at advertising. Long live Rossi. |

Can you imagine Foggy all big mouth and high ambitions actually racing Doohan on a bike that isn't so easy to ride. Against other riders on equal machinery.
I would have paid money to see that one. That Foggy means so much to the Brits is really a sad comment on the quantity and the quality of their home grown motorsport heros. |

I'm not to get into the love or hate Foggy thing, I've only seen him racing for the last 2 years of his career, and don't read Bike racing news etc re:interviews so I have no views of him other than seeing his racing and results.
My query-why is his team only going to be coming in at Laguna, half way thru the season? And I presume the bikes will be Dukes. djb |

nope, saubers tripple
and they'll need time to devolpe the bike. it started out life as a gp1 bike. its beyound me why they went to wsb instead of gp1 unless they only wanted or could afford to spend $$$ instead of $$$$ purhpes they were impatent, couldnt find a team, and decided to make their own in wsb Last edited by Es Nes; 2 Jan 2002 at 09:28. |

Certinly Foggy got lucky, but he was also good too. He took on the best WBSK riders in the world and beat them all. Certainly it takes the best or one of the best bikes on the grid to get it done, but that is what comes when the rider is good. Hodgson is a good rider, especially at tracks he can call home, just like the Japanese wild card riders at Sugo, but that does not mean he is good enough to beat them all at any track as Foggy did.

Mr Moffatt you really make me laugh. Is it so bad that we have a rider just as succesful on the world stage as you have. Yes Fogarty was not as good as Doohan but he didn't do bad the times he rode a 500. Keeping up in 92 on a ****box Harris, should have been third in 93 and some good rides on the ****box 91 NSR.
OK Doohan won a WSB ride but in those days you could turn up with anything and win. Polen won for goodness sake! As for Foggy having a bike advantage well that is really rich coming from a Doohan fan, need I say more. The bike was built for him and no one else. Criville had to adapt his style to it and they have done exactly the same with Rossi, totally abandoning Criville in the process. Yamaha do the same with Biaggi which is why all his mechanics were replaced a few years back. They were all Rainey boys who couldn't believe that Max couldn't ride like Wayne. I have the utmost respect for the top guys. I agree that Foggy is a bit of an ******** and I don't particularly like the guy but you have to give him credit for what he did. He totally dominated the sport and put the likes of Corser, Chili, Gobert, Russell, Slight in their place. None of them did a huge amount on two strokes eiether apart from Chili. By the way, most of us Brits actually don't mind the Aussies coming over here and nicking our lads rides, shame your race scene has died a death out there... |

Moffatt you make me laugh
Why can't you just admit that Foggy was good. Nobody disagrees that Doohan was better but then against the real talents like Rainey, Schwantz and Lawson Mick wasn't exactly dominant was he? As for the bike being easy to ride then how come everyone else that has ridden has not won titles. Apart from Corser who lucked into the 96 title then no other rider has won on a 916. I wonder if it is coz he is a Brit that you dislike the man so much. Yes he is an arse sometimes but at least he has a bit of character. Have to admit that I can't see him as a team manager though! Oh and we really do enjoy your guys coming over here and winning all our stuff, maybe we will repay the compliment sometime when our domestic racing is in as much of a state as yours. But I can't see it can you. Aussies admitting that Brits might be able to ride in their country and win... |

G'Day Chunder
I've missed your insightful comments around here of late. Yes, the Aussie's have 'nicked' the rides in Britain from the locals. Wonder why that would be? Because the Brits are so good? Doubt it myself. So crow on about Foggy, second rate rider in a second rate series. |

Man, don't you just hate Aussies
You guys are so bullish. Mind that is why you probably win most of the time. Heads that big must have more brains in than ours, surely. Have to agree that WSB is second rate, but there is always a pinnacle. Just don't start on about F1 coz we have you beat every day of the week there boyo. Cheap shot I know but we have to try. I'm also sure that if we sent all our best riders to other countries we would win more too. Apart from Japan maybe. |

Maybe it is because your guys are better at attracting sponsorship or just have more money to start with Must be galling though ot lose them. But that really isn't the Oz style is it. Why stay down under when you can overwhelm another country instead. Now where have I heard that before!! |
