Etcc.
Will it be a success or won't it?
I'd rather see the national series build up again and to the same rules, before we embark on a Pan European series. |

The 2001 ETCC was a success. I think had it not been part of the Eurosport Super Racing Weekend concept, it would have died.

I agree with hakkiman.
Wonder what the 2002 season will bring us with all the new regulations |

I'll reserve judgement, it's difficult to comment on a series that I hardly ever get to see. Hope the new 2002 regs can be a sucess.
I'll admit I went along to Silverstone this year for the ETCC thinking it would be great to see Super Touring again and in the end, it was a disappointment. |

Well we were asking this about the BTCC 12 months ago, and that ended up with many positives coming out of it, as well as some negatives. I think the same will be said of the ETCC this year, but remeber that this is a 'one-year only' series, because as of 2003, Super 2000 comes in and that could cause disruption this year.

Alfa, BMW, Honda, Nissan and Volvo (through Prodrive) have all commited to the championship in some form for 2002 (Alfa has 6 cars), so i'm sure it will be a success, and the manufacturers must be commited if they are putting all this effort into rules which will only last for one year. Hopefully they will go back to the 2 driver enduros in 2003, like it was in the past, and hopefully it can get the Spa 24 Hours back off GT's.

i think that they should adopt the same rules throughout europe, that way the cars in all the national series could also compete in the european series, it would be something similar to thw football european cups, only without teams beng eliminated! it would be interesting to see how teams from different countries do with the same model cars!

Carrie,
The 2001 ETCC should never have visited Silverstone. It should have visited Brands hatch Indy. That would have been fantastic. Are the ETCC cars visiting Spa in 2002? |
