Riccardo Patrese
If im not mistaken didnt Patrese have a go at the German super touring championship in 1995 in a ford mondeo? What happened their? It was disastorous wasnt it?

He did- the car carried Valvoline sponsorship, similar to the BTCC cars.
Patrese had a pretty dreadful season- as did fellow ex-F1 driver Thierry Boutsen, who also drove for Ford in the STW-Cup. The problem was the car- Ford threw a lot of money and effort at building a 4x4 Mondeo, which simply didn't work- neither Patrese, Boutsen or any of the other Ford drivers could do anything with it- in fact, I think one of the drivers (either Roland Asch or Kris Nissen?) started the season in a year-old car because their new 4x4 wasn't ready in time, but actually stayed with the older car for most of the year because it was faster.... |

Definately should stick w/FWD if the road cars are FWD. Audi were so good w/4WD because the road cars are all quattros.
