Wheldon
Briton Dan Wheldon could make a return to the IRL in 2003 with Andretti racing. Wheldon is expected to be announced as the Andretti test driver which could lead to a full campaign alongside Kannan and Franchitti. Andretti looks set to retire after the Indy 500 so that could be Dan's chance. thats 2 Brits in 2003!

so Dan isnt hooking up with Panther racing then ?????
either way it would be good to see young Dan out there having a go as I think he is a pretty good driver  good luck to him. |

think panther should have signed dan - he is a class race driver through the junior ranks.... dont think panther can keep challenging with only 1 driver (even though they have in the past).
good luck to dan, from what i have read and his past results - they show that he is a quality race driver

As mentioned i guess this puts an end to hopes of a second Panther car
 Great opportunity for Wheldon though to get with that team, pity though that Michael might bail after the 500. |

Wouldn't surprise me if Panther go to CART, or run one car in each maybe. But if there are 2 IRL cars only, the second one will probably be a paying driver. With only one car I doubt they can stay competitive against the incoming teams, Penske, Nunn and Ganassi have experience to build on. Actually, I'll make a bet- Hornish will not finish top 5 in the IORL table next year.

Where has there been any mention of Panther running a CART team, who would drive, where would the money come from?
Seeing as they are a factory Chevy team in the IRL, it would be a clashing of interests wouldn't it be if they ran a CART team that would probably have a Ford badged engine (as Ford will probably do that deal). |
