Sorry Jarno, said Jenson... Apart from a bad five minutes when he dropped back and then harpooned Jarno (in a flashback of his move at the start of Monaco) Jenson had another decent race.
I wonder, if he had spent this year in F3000 gaining experience and learning the tracks, where would he be on the grid next year ? Will he gain more valuable experience in F1 ? He certainly seems to have the respect of the other drivers. |

Think about the pressure he must have been under from Shumacher durring the first few laps.

So, are you saying he is coping and in the right place, or should he have gained more experience first ?

Oh dear, i'm sure JB will be really upset now...
These things happen to the inexperienced, MF, remember that he is doing all his learning in F1 rather than a minor series such as F3 or F3000 - it's only 3 years since he was winning in karts... |

Im not sure if it was a really stupid move or not but it did show that Button is a hard charger for sure..he was all over Trulli and would have passed him eventually but he outplaced himself and let TGF by and was trying to make up for that mistake..and there was a slight hole there which he thought he could slip through..but it wasnt to be but at least he was having a go at it..remember in F1 passing is very hard if there is half a chance stick the nose up there and see what happens.

I agree with Marcus, it was a RACING INCIDENT.

I am perhaps inclined to agree with Minardi fan on this one. He was clearly not cool under pressure from TGF. When they came to the Bus Stop, he may as well have parked up and let everyone through. Then, in a vain attempt to make it up, he runs into Trulli. There was no gap for his car, and I'd say it was pretty generous of Trulli to not say anything much about it.

His first mistake?
I did think it was a stupid move.
But then again, I'm not exactly a Button-fan. In fact I think he did quite a good job today. And ---I hate to admit it--- also during the rest of this season. Making only one mistake in 13 races is still very good! |

Full marks to Trulli for just saying that it was one of those things, two young drivers going for it. Had is been for instance MS & DC it would have been handbags at dawn followed by tears and crying to the press. Maybe it robbed JT from a good finish (He was 2nd & MH later spun, who knows ?) but he took it well. I hope the guy wins a race on merit very soon. It was also good for JB to admit it was his fault. One would hope that this good spirit can continue. It was one of those things that happen unfortunatly for Button and Trulli. Simon |

Jenson Button is a great talent and whenever he becomes a world champion in the future, I'm one of those who would not be surprised.
And I really don't understand all this 'Bunsen' bashing actually. Just imagine you are Jenson Button. And in your first year in Formula One you have several points finishes, 10 points in 13 races and you've started a race from 3rd and 6th, would you say to yourself: "I stink!." No, you wouldn't! I think you would be pretty proud of yourself. Why is it then so difficult to respect and appreciate what this young man is doing right now. Are we so prejudiced that we can't see real talent when it's there right in front of our eyes? And for the mistake he made today? He's only human, just like you and me. |

I dont think it was stupid, he saw Shuey go through him being aggressive pushed and it didn't work out, remember it was very wet. He did what someone like shuey or JV would have done, it just doesn't allways work out. But he is not afraid to try, which means he is comfortable in the car. But Trulli was more then fair in his comments, which is what we need more of, sportsmanship. I honestly thought that Trulli would have harsher words.
And I do think that he is in the correct place, he seems to be ready for Formula 1. |

Button was over-eager to make the pass, but Trulli has done this a few times (just ask Alesi) and I expect he's more tolerant because of this.
While I don't like Button Spice as a person (I think he's a hollow little PR machine) I do think he has showed some good potential so far this year and am willing to wait and see how he develops career-wise. And perhaps he will get over himself when he has got a little older. |

I lost my respect for John Barnard when he got into a slanging match with Ferrari all those years ago, so the "Button Spice " epithet (as he is quoted of coining) is, to me, a little more of that bitterness coming through. Button has to all intents and purposes, done more than he has been asked this year. He's brought publicity and points to a team which is rebuilding itself. Much better than his highly paid but lowly talented predecessor.
There is no fault to find in either him or Trulli. They were racing and racing incidents happen. They are both young racers. The only shame was that only one of them would finish. BTW. I don't think he's ever been quoted as saying he would win a race or be given equal treatment or even score a point this year. Unlike a number of over hyped drivers whom I could name. |
