I hope you had a good couple of days here at The Glen. Lots of neat cars! Did you get to spend much time in the garage and the paddock areas? By a stroke of luck I got to have lunch with Tommy Kendall and it was pretty cool. Very down to earth guy and he is not just a driver. He is also a FAN! Works for me. |

This was my first trip to The Glen since the 1975 Grand Prix and I had to make it a short one to get to work on Sunday. Great cars. Mark Donohue was(and still is) my hero as a kid. Hope to make it a longer stay next year.

Next time you come, you will have to go to Watkins Glen on Friday evening for the reenactment of the original race through the village. It is great fun. You would be surprised at some of the race cars that people bring down to run on the streets (even 962's !!).
The GTP 1 hour race on Sunday afternoon was VERY good. Not a whole lot of on-track competition, but the selection of cars was good (several 962's, Nissan ZX-Turbo, Kudzu-Mazda, a Japanese Mazda powered sports racer (chassis?), a Royale-Porsche, an Intrepid and a Spice-Chevy. The Hsu brothers won in one of their 962's. Did you see the bare tub in the garage? It is all that is left of a 4wd Lola IndyCar that Penske owned and Donohue drove, but it wasn't very successful. The Unfair Advantage folks have been collecting parts and are close to beginning the restoration. Should be a neat project when they get it done. |

Gary:
Did you go downtown for the reenactment? I went last year for the first time. I was surprised to see that people took real race cars around the town. There was even a 962 that did the old course! Amazing! |

Next time you visit, make sure that you do the downtown and also take some time to visit Motor Racing Research Library (assuming I have the name right). LOTS of neat books and some memorabilia.
