New BMW engine inpresses Gene
from AUTOSPORT
"Williams test driver Marc Gene is impressed with the 2004 BMW P84 engine. The team conducted successful tests with the new motor at Jerez last week. Next year's regulations require a single car's engine to last for a full race weekend, and the new engine has been designed with this in mind. Gene simulated a weekend by running 295 laps over three days last week and encountered no problems." Is that the first simulated weekend out of all the teams that has been trouble free? Good going if it is. |

That's a good thing then. I'm sure it has been ran on the dyno for ages.

Good. But I believe they will have problems, eventually in some races.

It's a bit early to judge, of course; certainly a good perspective for next season; howver at Williams BMW the engine has never been the main problem; let's hope the rest of the car will follow it!

Well, I guess nobody expected BMW to make a bad engine indeed.

Jerez isn't the most engine-sapping circuit though - back in 1997 both McLarens ran reliabily, which was unusual. Still an encouraging start from BMW, which may increase the pressure on the other teams, especialyl Renault who are basically starting afresh, to get an engine ready.

This is great news for them though. Ferrari needs to be dethroned. I am hoping Renault or Mac does it but I will settle for a Williams. |
