I am sure McLaren will have a problem like this sorted before the 1st race, after all that is what testing is all about. |

This was mentioned a while back and from what I understand it is a simple resdesign. The main issue I suspect would of been height but Wurzs is okay in that direction. Widening the cockpit should not prove to much of a headache for a team like McLaren and let's not forget they have had this before to a greater degree in 1995 with Mansell.

The article did suggest that a simple redevelopment of the drivers seats might rectify the problem.

Well a few weeks ago it was said a simple refitting of the fireextinguiser would solve the problem.
Now its a few weeks further and DC and kimi both got hurt doesnt tell me its an easy fix of a problem and that it also doesnt really relate to a fireextinguiser. I remember 1995 and the problem was known then too and took several months to rectify. Anyone remember what mclaren said back then? To be honest i doubt they will have this problem come melbourne. |

I find it a little rediculous that this hasn't been taken care of already. With a team of that caliper to overlook a major detail like driver comfort seems a little surprising to me...maybe the ythough they could get away with the old seat but as soon as they had a problem, they should have immediately done a full seat fitting for each driver in the car IMO

Anyway, the story is worth discussing. It is indeed shades of '95. McLaren are working on the seat, maybe that will help. I'll be interesting to see what happens over the next few test days. It'll be obvious if they fix it. Luckily none of the drivers has Mansell's physique. |

Ron: Well, this is what you've been waiting for. Take a look at what you'll be driving in 2004. (Ron whips out a 1:13 scale model) The MP4/19! Hop in Kimi...
Kimi: That's a nice looking model sir. Ron: I said hop in. |

"Spruce Goose" was the name of a gigantic plane (around 1945). |

Sorry to disappoint mansellmania, but McLaren will do fine once the main season starts. Making the effort to acocmodate Nigel in 1995 was a waste of time because his motivation was clearly non-existant once he realised he'd have it harder tahn 1992, with a car off the pace and an under-rated fast team-mate who went on to be one of the greats.

Just reading on Autosport.com that Raikkonen has set an unnofficial track record at Jerez, and he also has a new seat; which is working out for him quite nicely thank you
