Britsports

I thought I'd give its own thread...

I like the idea of Britsports more than the 'cars - but thats cos I love prototypes and the scope for this series is mega...

Bring back the Brand Hatch 1000km for Britsports cars!!! I can't wait till somone builds a big banger special...

anyway this is the Britsports thread....

That's a great idea, and maybe next month's EERC-only meeting at Brands could be the start of something that could see the 1000km return in the future.

The Britsports regs are pretty loose, and are open to Group C2 closed cars as well.

Come to Silverstone tomorrow and get a taster.

Time to get this tread back up I think.
Shame about teh rumour of the Sliverstone round being canned. It really hurt the entry for it.Still never mind.Well done to Flux and Millard for winning.

John or James, I'm sorry I didn't get to follow this up on the day, but did this rumour really hurt the entry to the extent that eight teams that had entered (well, were in the programme), withdrew?

I am not sure about that. That was the impresion I got though.I am sure we will have a better entry at Brands though.I know ADR are enter a couple of new cars in Britsport at Brands. With such open regs I hope a few big bangers are going to enter later like the Rapier is hoping to.

23 enties as of today including the rad turbo and lm 3000 of Flux.Seems that the bulk of the grid is Radicals all sizes.Hopefully we will get some bigger cars as the season gose on.

Not sure if this one will make after testing at Brands today...2 wheels on the wet grass exiting Surtees onto the GP circuit and the car spun to the left and into the barriers hard - driver(Dave Ellis?)ok!

It might be a long nite for the team to make it to the grid just depends on how bad the damage is, they done that with the MG in Britcar that got to close the wall at Silvestone.

Not a good way to start the weekend.Still i'm sure with with a few well placed hammer blow and a couple of rolls of tank tape it will be as good as new.It works for MG F's at silverstone.

The britsport field looks like it could be tight.I think Millard/Flux will win but the Rad Turbo looks very much a theat.

The driver of the blue Royale pictured is Martin Ellis. Was he ok? Does anyone know how much damage there was to the car? Did it reach the tub?

I heard the driver telling someone in the pits that he thought something broke-he heard a bang and the car speared off....but seeing the evidence (tyre marks)at the scene it seems he got two wheels on the wet muddy grass on the exit on the brow of the hill and the rest is history! Druivers allways see it in a different light!! Yes, the driver was fine.

And I'm not one to go on, but there was nine entries for the Avon 100 race, and there's 11 at Rockingham for the similar Centurian Challenge. Why not 20 at one circuit!?

Just for the record Millard and Flux won again, this time by 2 clear laps. We are back to this old chestnut of similar cars at Lydden, Brands, Silverstone, Snetterton, Rockingham all on the same day...oh and Donington. I bet there were not many spectators (at least at the first four venues).

At the drivers breifing for Britcar/Britsports it was put to the drivers if they would be happy to run both together in one race and have a board hung out after 100 min's to signal the end of the Britsports race(couldn't chequer if an other race was to have continued)but it was voted to stay as it should be as per the race programme.

Pleased to report that following my shunt at Brands on Friday the body is okay, mine that is not the car! Thanks for the concern Tom, we should be out for the first race in 2 weeks - the tub is fine, just need a complete new body and everything between the wheel and the drive shaft! Chris Snowdon is hard at work as we speak and the car has alreadt been stripped and new parts ordered.

Hello Martin, glad to hear yu are OK after the accident and of course a huge welcome to Ten-Tenths.

With regard the poor grid for Britsports, something needs to be done quite quickly. I support the Britcar/Britsports idea 100% but, when you have 9 cars for a 100 minute race on the Brands Hatch GP circuit it doesn't bode well. Many marshla were heard to complain about the poor entry level and long race and I can understand their point of view. Let's think of it this way, if marshals (who are huge race fands first and foremost) are bored to death, what chance is there of attracting a big band of spectators to come and pay to see the race? Unless something is done pretty soon to rectify the problem even the marshals will stay away.

However, as I have said in another thread, the sight of Anthony Reid taking the little MG to its limits in the Britcar race almost compensated for the poor entries elsewhere.
