2006 Champcar Preview ?!
Part of the OWRS' "Five Year Plan" is converting the recent formula into a new one come year 2006.
As CART has planned earlier to switch to normally aspirated gasoline powered V10s - OWRS is planning to go ahead with this scenario. When the "new engine formula" kicks in we're also going to get the "new chassis formula". And many wonder how will our NEW Campcars look like. So, here's a little preview. First of all, there is a little dilemma that will need to get resolved: ovals or no ovals ?! - that is very important in the new chassis design. Should OWRS decide to go along with this "diversity" thingy and keep oval racing then the cars will somewhat resemble F1 racers but will be handicapped when it comes to road racing. So in order for Champcars to become true road racing superfast machines they need to shed some weight that comes with the oval racing package - ie: get rid of MILWAUKEE ?! Recently a new road racing formula was incepted: A1 - they will be using Lola chasses with around 500hp engines, very similar to what CCWS will see in 2006 > The new Champcars will not look like those in A1 but they will be quite similar... or very similar to the ill-fated Premier1 Reynards - pictures in next post zerO |

That looks like a spec version of a go-kart to me. But I will be happy if they exist in 2006 and no mistake.

That last picture looks kind of like an F3000. Ugly in my opinion.
I must ask though, where is your information coming from? I have heard nothing from OWRS about the engine package in the future, so how do you know they are planning on continuing the idea for the V-10 engine? Also how do you know that Champcars will change there chassis so something completely new, rather than just evolving the current chassis's into something else, like they done for years and years? I saw a post almost identical to this at least a month ago on SpeedTV.com's message board. I don't go there anymore, because most of the information there is false rumours and there is way too much bickering there. As for your poll, well I didn't vote because I think the choices are skewed. I don't think those are the only choices. In fact I don't think either of those choices is what is most likely to happen. Okay, so now that I have read the A1 articles (which if the series happens, then I hope that it will be a good series), what the heck does the car concept have to do with a 2006 design? Just because it it proposed by Lola does not mean that the Champ Car design will look like that.
Besides, I am sure that the Big Three have thought about the future. It is obviously not a priority because the focus now is to get the series off and running. |

i say work on the body parts and lighten the car a bit and use oval wing for road corses. no as much dirty air as now. create most of the downforce with the undertrey. i would think it would make the racing more exciting. oh yea go back to 900hp since we dont have to worry about superspeedways anytime soon unfortunatley. but what do i know.

I think Champ Car using the A1 spec car from 2006 would be very good news.
