Will New 2008 Regs Happen?
After seeing RPM last sunday and hearing Ove Anderssen's comment on the whole issue being something like "It's another Max Mosley bomb to see how the manufacturers react," i think this time the head of the FIA is serious. He has apparently crushed the argument of the manufacturers and i myself think that a return to 1989 is iminent. You thoughts?

Yes, it is a long time. I don't agree with it because F1 the way it is is still a spectacle. I love seeing cars doing super fast lap times and I dont want it to go down hill, so much that ChampCars will be faster. If they want to do something to make it more enjoyable, they should change sport rules to make it more friendly on competitors and or put a stop to testing between races unless absolutely necessary. I don't care as long as the cars get faster instead of slower.

Well i have been reading F1 racing mag for this month and i found that they want to reduce the size of the engine.. again. This time to a V8 2.5litre. Iv always thought Formula 1 was about the speed and power, dont know what the FIA should be so concerned about it.
I know that they take saftey serious but sometimes I find they take it to far. |

The cars are lapping 5 seconds quicker, at least, than 4 years ago. You all seem to be ignoring the fact that regs change constantly, in all formulas, yet in time the cars always end up faster as development continues. Remember the fuss about the 'narrow', treaded tire F1 cars that were apparently too slow for F1. Well they're not too slow now are they! Last edited by JAG; 3 May 2004 at 19:13. |

In 1997 they should have stamped on the rear wings there and then, and just stated maximum of 1 rear wing element, and reduced the engines to a 2.5 litre V-12. They should have also increased the weight of the cars to 700Kg. |

The cars corner faster than ever now.
Also lets not go away thinking everything was fin and dandy prior to 1997. F1 has had its current problems since the early 90s, i.e. lack of passing etc. Last edited by JAG; 4 May 2004 at 00:33. |

F1 cars currently vastly out perform pretty much every race car the takesto a road circuit...
there is plenty of wiggle room there. I'm pretty much all for any change that brings back slicks! |

All this talk of slowing down the cars...but they have destroyed all the the great circuits these day's anyway by putting chicanes in them. in 1998 when the cars got thinner in width they went faster down the hockenheim's straight's!
The 1992 cars looked best, big rear wheels! |
