Thanks Oulton Marshals
On behalf of the forty eight FF1600 drivers at Oulton Park today, a BIG BIG THANKS for your professionalism throughout a packed nine race programme.
We had four of the day's races with grids of 30, 18, 30 and 29 cars [30 being a full grid on Island] Some hefty tyre wall rebuilds and stoppages in the other races were - as usual - dealt with superbly. Unfortunately race 9, our 4th race was curtailed by a monster accident on the start straight - right beneath Race Control and my vantage point in the Media Centre - when Phil Austin and Jason Minshaw touched. Two wrecked cars and a blocked track and Jason briefly trapped in his car. Everything just seemed to happen automatically, very quickly and probably exactly as per the training manual. Phil walked to the Medical Centre and Jason walked to the Ambulace. Jason was taken to Leighton Hospital for 'observation' It is perfectly true that without the dedication of all the marshals out on track, the Senior Officials who have to call the shots very quickly, the Rescue Unit crews, the Medical staff and every other official involved on a race day, this sport would not run nearly as well and safely as it does. Yes marshals do miss things or make the odd wrong call, but so do drivers. Without each other, we are nothing. So thanks again folks and see you at Anglesey in a fortnight. |

Thanks Sheila and thanks for not mentioning that I failed to mention the Pit Lane marshals, other than generally under "and every other official involved on a race day" I'll pop by to say hello at the Edwina Trophy at Mallory next Sunday.

"He's fine. He should be going home later today" Good news indeed. |

Thats good news, most of us pit lane marshalls, were calling each other last nite to chat, it`s not offten that we have such a big one like that so close, flagging at signal was the closest I have ever been to an accident and the closest I ever want to be, thanks for your upliftting words diz, i think that everyone just went into automatic pilot when the dust had settled, well done to all fellow marshalls who were involed in attending this.
Tony aka Pit Bull. P.S. see you all at Angelsee or 3 sisters on Friday |

I had a "Dream Team" of Marshals at Old Hall on Saturday headed up by Ian (Where's me Muffins") Lewis!
Apart from the "Biggie" at the end (When you all buggered off and left me to put the bottles away) there was an incident involving Chris Chisnall & Barry Thompson which resulted with the latter being stranded in the middle of the track at Old Hall. This was a deffo Red Flag call but then all of a sudden, the lads just picked up the front end of the car and dragged it out of the way just before the pack came round again! Well done guys - the "Powers That Be" know just how well you did!!! Last edited by Mark Mitchell; 2 Aug 2004 at 08:15. |

I give you a clue I'm at least 25 years younger than you. Thinking about it that may not be such a good clue, I probably get several cards with Happy 50th on it now |
