Have you visited BMW Williams F1 Site lately ?
70% of the Site is dedicated to JPM. Who do you think will be the #1 Team driver ??? |

While we know how enthusiastic (to put it mildly) the Williams team are about Montoya's arrival, a website hardly has a bearing on who will be favoured in the team. And how often has Frank Williams been known to favour anyone?

I think the question is, Which will be least shat upon! In all seriousness though, I think Ralph has been around so long that Frank will continue to give him full support (In that warm, fuzzy Frank WIlliams way).... |

BTW, last year the website devoted most of its news to Button. Guess the no.1 driver prefers to stay at the back stage and let his skills do the talking.

obi-wang
Well i tink Ralp is and should be the No1 driver.. Until @ least we all can see on-track which 1 deserves the No1 spot... And up 2 now Ralp has been the only driver testin in the new BMW.. I cant wait 2 see if obi-wang is as great as everyone says..I hope he is, he may even give the Ferarri's & the Maclaren's a bit of a chalenge. But i guess we all will have 2 sit tight 4 a few more weeks...right. Best WTP. |

I think this thing about who´s # 1 or who is´nt is something
that sometimes is very subjective. We can say that the one that performs better should be the spoiled driver, but sometimes is different. Who was ferrari´s top driver in 1999, was it shumi or irvine. Eventhough TGF was number 1, Irvine did better, well that´s what I think. |

Sure there's always going to be some ambiguity about #1 status within a team, but I honestly don't think it applies too much to lower grid teams. OK, so Fisi had a qualifying car last year and Wurz only had it at the end of the season, we know who was Flavios favourite there. But generally, unless there's a genuine championship fight going on teams are going to have equal status for their drivers.

JPM seems to be virtual No 1 for the virtual Williams team. Ralph is the real one. They will never meet each other because they live in the diferent realities.

While I have the utmost respect for Ralf and his abilities, being the best of the rest last year, he frankly should have been, given the Williams was the 3rd best team with the 3rd best car. However, I really believe that JPM has that certain something that commands loyalty and dedication from his team (he took it away from Vasser at Target), and that as soon as he outperforms Ralf a few times the team karma will change. Drivers who are incredibly focussed make those around them focus too. Especially since he has such a strong reputation coming in, and has driven a groove tired F1 car before, he will be better than Zanardi was, for sure.
