I think that if any blame should be given then it should be the ferrari lollypop man, Who caused the whole mess to happen.
Dont you think a team like ferrari should have a reserve fuel man, who can cope with the pressure of a grand prix? Michael Schumacher showed where his loyaltys lied, with the ralf and Barrichello incident. |

Well, the second pit stop would certainly have gone faster if TGF hadn't run over the regular fuel guy!!
(Just in case anyone misses the sarcasm, yes, it was the lolipop man's fault). [This message has been edited by Kenny W. (edited 07 May 2000).] |

It was Bernie's fault. So was the lame tire he got on his second stop. Obviously a plot by Bernie to close the gap between Ferrari and McLaren and make the season more exciting. (P.S. I AM JOKING!)
And I totally agree with the assessment of the sensational TGF/TOGF/Rubens three-wide - that showed character in TGF and top marks to him. |

TGF - That German Fellow (Michael Schumacher)
TOGF - That Other German Fellow (his brother) Just for ease of spelling. No disrespect intended. |

TGF - If I'm not mistaken, Liz was the first to use this, and this is the first time she's told us what she means by it. I had always guessed she meant "The Great Fuhrer", but obviously not.

Well, I for one have never been convinced that all of our correspondents mean the "F" to stand for "Fellow"!
So it will always be Schumacher for me... |

No no, Liz told us all last year...
Does anyone see the irony here? Everyone was ragging Michael Andretti becausehe ran over a team member last week, and everyone was saying how safe F1 is and how there are no people getting run over in the pits... |

Does the lollipop guy (LG) rely on visuals from the refuelling guy (RG) just as he does from the tyre guys? (TG) Is it the action of pulling back from the car that the LG looks for from the RG? If so, the RG sent the signal. The LG just acted on it. Poor, poor LG. Kinda feel sorry for him. And Nigel Stepney. Both innocents in a hectic game...

LG and RG are left guy and right guy? Um, no, those would be tire guys - LRTG, RRTG, LFTG and RFTG. Help, it's beginning to sound like they all have university degrees! But if you were going to diagram what they do, all those letters would be helpful, no?
Incidentally, calling Ralf TOGF was just a one-off. It's easier to write Ralf, except for people who insist on calling him Ralph. I always thought lollipop in that sense was a North American word and lollipops in Britain were just candy. |

Liz,
just for information, a lolipop guy (or normally lady in Britain is a person employed to help children cross the road. They carry a large lolipop shaped sign with "Stop Children" written on it into the middle of the road to stop the cars and let the children across. P.S. they do have lolipops. Candy is an American word. P.P.S. I always thought there should be some punctuation in that sign somewhere. |

Kenny, thanks for the info. As for the punctuation, perhaps the Lollipop Lady knows something the rest of us don't?

I thought that TOGF was Frentzen, no I’m not joking!
Any way, I believe the Lollypop guy is to blame. |

Blimey shaunvdb, twice...? Now that's a strong opinion!
I honestly think the Lollipop guy was acting on signals received from the refueller. If the refueller hadn't pulled back as far as he did to have another attempt, the lollipop guy wouldn't have reacted as quickly as he did. I also suspect that Ross Brawn was hussling the pit crew along a fair bit. He must have raised their speed awareness level as MS was struggling a bit prior to the first stop, and he might have wanted it completed even quicker than normal. Just a guess. |

How does Frentzen fit in with the abbriviations how about TGF - Shuey TOGF - Frentznn TGFB - Ralf the german fellows brother |

That's what I said, Ralf is easier than TOGF, that was just a one-off. Frenzy is what the other pilotes call HHF so that's what I say, but either will do.
Has anyone heard what injuries Stepney actually suffered? I heard a twisted ankle. Was that all? I am sure it was ENOUGH, and I hope it was all! |

Unfortunately confirmed now, Liz. Nigel has broken his ankle, and has visited the same surgeon that dealt with MS after Silverstone last year. He'll be out of action for four weeks, but was already back at work at Maranello Monday.
Ferrari's fortunes may just have changed... ...For the worse! |
