Ferrari and introducing the 055 Engine
I was just wondering that when Ferrai introduce the new car could it be possible that one of their drivers may have to take a ten place grid penalty for their first race in it?
With Schumacher most likely to receive and engine change before the next race in Malaysia, he and Barrichello will be on opposite races where their engine is entering weekend number two. This would mean that when the new car is introduced with its new engine one of them will surely have only used their engine for one weekend and have to drop down the order for the start of the first race in the new car. Or is there a loophole i have missed that could help them out? |

No loophole that I am aware of. I seem to remember Brawn discussing the possibility of not changing Michael's engine because it might put them out of phase for introduction of the new car...

I dont think Ferrari are going to change MS' car for Sepang; even if the drivers get out of phase with engines, I am sure MS wud get to drive the new car ahead of Rubinho

Does this mean that Michael will be taking orders now?

When Rubens has got the old reliable car it always breaks down for him, so this problem could sort itself out...

with schumacher saving 15 odd laps in australia it would be a bit silly to change the engine for malaysia.

Why would it be? After all, there would be no penalty for it, so you can be pretty sure, they will change it.

Why is this years engine the 055? Wasn't the 04 engine the 053? What happened to the 054?

They won't change it. They want to introduce the new car in Bahrain - so it would be silly to take a replacement engine for Malaysia. |

If they want to introduce the new car in Bahrain then they wont change Schumacher's engine i guess. Unless they just bring one new car and give it to Barrichello. Now there's a thought!

Before the new two race per engine regs were brought in Ferrari were well under way developing a new engine for the old 1 weekend rules and this was the 054. It had to be scrapped when the rules changed and so the next engine was the 055. |
