80's Touring Cars Drag Racing - Brock vs Morris and Harvey vs Grice
Here is some footage from 1982 of some of the Touring Car guys drag racing at Calder park.
Harvey's car runs a surprisingly fast 11.83 second 1/4 mile pass. I would like to have known what mph they crossed the finish at as well if anyone happens to know? Awesome footage though, and I wonder what other gems are sitting out there like this. Absolutely priceless Dazz - once upon a time professional touring car teams used to also be enthusiasts too....

I remember quite a few years ago during one of the Winfield Triple Challenges (I think) some of the boys having a run over the 1/4 mile.
Seton and Gardner definitely had a run and a few others as well. It was covered in Auto Action at the time and I think one of the cars ran a high 10-second pass. If I could ge to my AA's I'd dig out the info. Maybe someone else has them handy and can have a look? How good would it be to see some things like this happengin again. |

An excellent find. Brings back fond memories of those marlboro hdt cars. Even if I was young then, i still remember loving it.
And gotta love GMH 3 - Ford Nil |

Great footage! How 'bout the A9X skulking around behind it all too?
Pity that the Falcon's not in that livery and spec these days... |

The late Evan Green hogged the call abit didn't he, Peter Landy couldn't get a word in!
A bad day for Alan Jones that day, his Falcon loses the drag race to Brock, and his Ralt failed to make the starting grid for the AGP later that afternoon.... |

What did he reckon of it all?
From here, it's a great thing... while there were many less rounds in the ATCC in the days, at least you had things like that, or the Amaroo stuff, to keep the heroes in front of their crowd... all seemed a lot more light-hearted and fun... |

I also recall Seton doing a pass and I think it was at a drag meeting - I also recall that he did a high 10 |

Brock Qualifying 1991 Brock Qualifying 1979 1986 Brock interview with some good old footage |

There's some great stuff if you search the right thing...
I've found the clips of the 1987 Wellington 500, 1987 Symmons Plains with Brock pulling away from richo only to be relled back in around the front... just awesome! Go hunting, search for specific stuff, and you'll get it! |
