WEV F4
I was the mechanic on this car for Martin Walford. The original WEV was raced in the 750 clubmans category with mudguards. It was also raced as an F4 at the same race meetings minus the mudguards.

Working in the historic business, replicas are everywhere, it's a fact and everyone knows it.
It is important to keep in mind that replicas should be an exact copy of another car and that is what we should see in GTs and TCs grids. For example, a replica of a 1965 Cortina Lotus should be an exact copy of an original 1965 car with the parts of 1965 and not the best of every year as we usually see. The "clone" cars are everywhere as well, a way of securing the history for some owners and I can understand this point of view but then, it's the same, it should be an exact copy of the original and not a development car..! I think that it is also acceptable to accept replicas of cars that no longer exists, like the Lancia that we see at Goodwood. But building "continuation" cars is not a fair point as you can or you could find and buy an original car or at least the chassis number After, it's down to the organisation to decide if they accept replicas or not. |
