BTCC 2018 Annual Predictions Thread
The natural successor to this and not to be confused with Pimmy's excellent Championship.
Here are mine from last year: 1) Team HARD will win a race 2) We'll only have two new race winners 3) At least one manufacturer team will change at least one driver during the season 4) The Team HARD CCs will be referred to as 'Passat CCs' by at least one driver/commentator/interviewee at each round 5) Dave Newsham will find himself on the podium at Knockhill So here are this year's 2018 1) Norlin will surprise everyone with either a lot of pace, or a serious lack of it after such a good debut campaign. 2) There will be at least three permanent changes of driver this season, one of which will involve Team Hard. 3) The phrases 'best season ever' 'quality has never been higher' and 'pinnacle of UK motorsport' will all be said during the ITV coverage of the first and last rounds. 4) Dan Cammish will be in with a mathematical chance of the title at the final round, and will outscore Matt Neal come the end of the season. 5) The Subarus will win a total of one race win - and Sutton will be the man who will score it. |

2. A red flag in every qualifying session 3. Someone who retires in Race 1 will win Race 30 4. 1 last lap pass for the lead that sticks 5. A roll at and only at every circuit which has an 'R' an 'O' and an 'L' in its name (Oulton Park, Knockhill Racing Circuit, Silverstone Circuit) |

2. Cammish to bag at least three wins 3. Ingram qualifies pole but drops it / has it dropped for him on the first lap 4. Another anonymous year for Subaru, even though Sutton goes into Brands GP with a mathematical chance after a lot of hard charging 5. The 60th Anniversary long race will be quite dull. |

1) All 7 of the RWD cars will finish in the top 10 of the 60th special race due to tyre wear.
Alternate 1) Or someone will use a tactical tyre change during a safety car in that race and come from behind and win. 2)The Honda teams will complain about RWD dominating at Knockhill, despite them having dominated Thruxton. 3) Every driver will have scored at least 10 points. 4) Someone from the front 3 rows in the 1st race at the season opener will loose the back end at paddock hill bend on the first lap. 5) Cook will outscore Chilton. |

1. By the end of the season every make of car, except one, will see the podium at some point.
2. In the second half of the season, a championship contender(in the Top 5) will have an absolute howler of a weekend, ruining any chance of winning the championship. 3. There will be a high profile retiree at the end of the season. 4. 10th will be the the most prevalent choice for grid reversal. 5. there will never be a podium where the sum of their race numbers is less than or equal to 10. |

1. Subarus will run badly, though Sutton will punch above weight and score more points than his teammates combined.
2. One of the HARD drivers will drop out and be replaced. 3. JP will not return in 2019 unless in a coaching capacity. 4. Ash Sutton will run one of the Aussie Supercar enduro events as a co-driver. 5. Ollie Jackson will get a podium. 6. Rob Collard will be eliminated from the Championship with a grim weekend at Knockhill or Rockinghan. 7. Colin Turkington will be the most boring interviewee of the year. 8. JP will use more excuses than pretty much everybody else combined as he won't be allowed to say the team has very little budget. 9. Motorbase won't be very good. 10. The new Honda will end the season as the most competitive car ala Subaru in 2016. |

Okidoke, let's have a go at this...
1) A BMW will win the first race of the season 2) Subarus will be off the pace until Oulton 3) Cammish to win JST 4) Jake Hill will get his first race win 5) PMR to score their first race win 6) And finally, I'm going to say that there will be... 3 driver changes over the season. |

1) BTC Norlin will win a race. Probably James Nash but who knows.
2) PMR will win a race. 3) Alfa will struggle early on either with pace or reliability but win a race in the second half of the season. 4) Dan Cammish will be the first JST driver to score an overall podium and will win that championship. 5) Multiple JST drivers will get an overall podium. |

1. Despite Chilton talking about a title challenge, Sam Tordoff will actually be the leading Motorbase driver across the season, being within a mathematical title chance come Brands GP.
2. Tim Harvey will say "The cream will always rise to the top" ad nauseam, especially at the final round. 3. James Nash will win two races, people on TenTenths will still refer to his grid interview from 2010. 4. Fans, spectators, rival teams and commentators will talk about a RWD start advantage when really it's a WSR BMW start advantage. 5. Tom Boardman will deploy maximum defence mode for 15th place, causing all sorts of mayhem |

1. Tom Ingram will challenge for the title
2. Just like 2017, Jason Plato will win at Knockhill and we'll call it a comeback even though it really isn't 3. Even with a weight penalty, Colin Turkington will remain a world-class act 4. Dan Camish will get up to speed, challenge Matt Neal for pace, but ultimately have to play second fiddle and protect his teammate 5. Jack Goff and Rob Austin will be up the sharp end, but only after the first three rounds when championship ballast affects the works Hondas and BMWs |

Hrm... bit tricky this year with so many "young guns" stepping up. However...
1. One or more of Plato, Neal, and Collard (elder) will retire from the BTCC at the end of the season. 2. Cammish will be ahead of Neal in the points by mid-season, becoming de facto number 1 driver for Honda 3. We'll have another first-time champion 4. The change of circuit colours at Donington will have loads of people going all misty-eyed for the "good old days" 5. The new surface at Silverstone will be blamed for an enormous qualifying shunt which takes two cars out of contention for the entire weekend |

Snetterton 2010, on the grid, he said something along the lines of "I'm better than the other drivers here" and then promptly threw it into the cornfield from the lead.
Started the perception that he's over-hyped or big-headed. But all racing drivers need self-belief and I think he's an excellent driver who will do well this season. |

2. a Honda will fail a ride height check at some point. 3. A driver from a manufacturer team will miss one single race, probably a race 3. 4. Brett Smith doesn't see the season out. 5. Mat Jackson will be back as a substitution for a team for one weekend only. Last edited by medius; 6 Apr 2018 at 00:20. |

1. Butcher will win at least 1 race in the MG
2. Mat Jackson will be back from Snetterton onwards 3. Tony Gilham will step in for the last 2 rounds for one of the Team Hard boys (probably Caine) 4. Andrew Jordan will again be outclassed by Turks and Collard 5. Cammish will do well but be a disappointment overall |

1. Tom Ingram will lead the championship after the early rounds.
2. Tom Ingram will lose his championship lead. 3. Dam Cammish will become known as Contact Cammish, gaining a reputation like his fellow Dynamics drivers. 4. Mat Jackson will replace 1 of Team Hard's drivers. 5. Tom Ingram will win the championship after an after race penalty is handed out to another driver, meaning he gains 1 crucial position - enough to win the championship. |

1. One of the commentators will refer to Andy Jordan's rallycross experience when he's held a big slide OR exclaim how unusual it is if he doesn't recover the slide, because of that rallycross experience...
2. Someone will have a spectacular off and roll the car at Donington. 3. Someone will do a 'Jeff Smith' again and get lucky with a pole in qualifying because the weather turns nasty. 4. All but one Honda gets a podium. |
