Get well soon
Niki Lauda has undergone a lung transplant in Vienna after being taken ill on holiday. Fingers crossed for a full and speedy recovery.

https://au.eurosport.com/formula-1/l...15/story.shtml I know he has also had at least two kidney transplants, also as a result of damage in that accident. The first kidney some years ago was from his brother, and a more recent transplant was from a stewardess whom he met whilst flying one of his planes.... she his now his wife and Mother of his young twins.. One thing we know is Niki is a fighter. Wishing Niki a full and speedy recovery. I have always been a huge fan of his, going back to his days at March, and when he joined my beloved BRM that was the icing on the cake.. Get well soon Niki. |

I didn’t know about the kidney transplants until I was reading the news about his lungs. Niki is certainly a fighter. I suppose by rights he should be dead.

One of the elite group of people who is universally regarded as a legend-best wishes to him.The F1 paddock needs a man who gives direct answers to questions and I don't doubt he will be back sooner than anybody thinks possible.

On balance I agree. I think sometimes Lauda veers into Jacques Villeneuve territory and likes the sound of his own voice a bit too much, but in general he plays a pretty straight bat, and is a welcome antidote to the stuffy corporatism of much of the paddock.

With his attitude i would not bet against him being in the paddock at the next GP telling everyone what to do.
A Real legend in motor racing and let us hope he recovers as fast as before. |

According to the doctor, the operation is NOT related to Lauda’s Nürburgring accident, which, I must confess, surprises me.

Definitely a surprise, but let's hope the Austrian legend makes a quick and full recovery. F1 needs his kind.
