Singapore Grand Prix 2024
After an enthralling and close battle up the front in Azerbaijan, will this street track also deliver similarly tense competition? It's definitely an arduous race.

LeClerc ahead of Norris by 0.076 seconds after first practice. This session takes place in the daylight, so could be very different for second practice in the dark. Be interesting to see how it works out.

After watching the FP1, it will likely be a close battle between Ferrari and McLaren for the race win this Sunday.

I think there are two big questions going into the Singapore GP. The first is, can McLaren extend their 20 point lead over RBR in the WCC? It's worth mentioning Ferrari are now 31 points behind RBR. The second question is, can Williams keep up the momentum and continue to improve after Baku? Either way Singapore's going to be very interesting.

Given Norris fastest and Piastri fifth in FP2, with Perez 8th and Verstappen 15th, I think there is every chance of McLaren extending their lead..... LeClerc and Sainz were 2nd and 3rd, so they look to be capable of keeping the Red Bulls out of the big points, too.... |

Both VCARB drivers produced impressive times in FP1 and FP2 after their track-specific update to the front wing. After these couple of practice sessions, it looks like a real possibility that Yuki and Daniel would make the Q3 which would be a great achievement for the team.

Is it just me or has the lasr few weeks Sky sports camera and commentary been totally out of sync?
So often in the last races the commentators or Ted or Martin will say "look at this" "you can see now ...." but the camera video we are seeing is not showing that but is showing something entirely different. Its like what they are seeing on their box monitor is not what they are putting out on the feed. Its very annoying. |

Nearly as annoying as sitting thru Q1 and listening to them scream about how this is going to be Mr Ricciardo’s last ever qualifying. I thi k I counted 6 references to it in that short time alone.
Mr Brundle was more helpful when they switched to the onboard and commented that there is no lack of commitment from the pilot. And then the Skypad is smacking him by replaying his lap and critiquing… Weird. |

Well, Williams didn't get to Q3, but both drivers are positioned to make a run for the top ten in the race. Another split for Haas, with Hulkenberg in the final qually. Goes to show, he's still got it for qualifying rounds. It's race day that things get a little off.

Q3 red flagged, as Sainz goes into the wall. That's ruined Norris' run and Verstappen has his lap time deleted.

It's the tyres, too hot too soon in that corner.

That didn't go well for Ferrari, with Leclerc and Sainz 9th and 10th, after showing so much promise in FP1 and 2.
Norris on pole, with Super Max joining him on the front row, his 2nd front row in 7 races. |

It IS very annoying. Maybe Crofty was checking out 10/10ths and didn't like my criticisms of him or something like that? |

I dont really understand how a sport like this can spend so much money and produce races like this. 1/3 of the way in and nothing of any note has happened since turn 1 lap 1. Not one retirement, mechanical failure, accident. Nothing.
Why is this? Why are the races so dull these days? In previous years we would have mechanical issues, strategies, on track incidents, safety cars, weather - Just anything that creates some drama or excitement. Now its all DRS passes and thats it. |

Albon has retired with the an overheating issue. As for the race itself, it's not the easiest track to overtake on. |

Looking at a single lap, or even a single race is IMO slightly short sighted. Championships are won over a season, and you can't have every race be a carnage filled festival of incidents (unless you're NASCAR of course) without seriously damaging your budget. There's never been a season without some boring races, but we just don't bother remembering them. |

Anyway - I'm quite enjoying this one. Primarily because Norris is wiping the floor with everyone!

Great drives from the top 3. I enjoyed that.
Ricciardo stealing the fastest lap and removing Norris' extra point might prove to be a crucial bit of strategy for the championship. |

Not sure that is is sensible, or appropriate, for the FIA post race interviewer, who happens to have active close commercial links with Red Bull, to pour a liquid over the winning driver. Other may have as different view, but to me it was unacceptable.
Also, the onboards from Perez showed a lot of front wing deflection on the Red Bull car, hopefully that is investigated. |

Even worse!
It should not have happened, Coulthard was there to carry out the interviews, nothing else. |

It seems as if everyone is treating this race as Daniel's last. So the rumor is looking more real. https://youtu.be/7vTGFqzVVC4?si=hNGskDKipCEoVNbJ
