Audi R8/R10 Le Mans aero question.

I know that the R8 and R10(unless it's raining) don't use the "Sprint" race fender louveres. I know that the downforce they produce usually isn't required at LM, but I do have a question about something I read in the "Bentley at Le Mans" book. I've also heard that another reason for the different aero treatment at Le Mans is to maximize air flow into the turbocharger intakes. Is there any truth to this?
