Don't dispair - help is at hand!! From a number of comments it would seem as though Rallycross has pretty much the same problems as other "non contact" racing - British Touring Cars, National Hot rods.
BTCC fines and endorses but it still sells its product on TV with a few bouts of fisticuffs thrown in for good measure. NHRs received so much negative comment about the amount of unchecked contact and the excessive damage caused that one steward just decided to go it alone with a zero tolerance policy. Now the governing body seems to be following his lead. It might be controversial and hurt a bit but I think it's the only way.
But having said that, as far as rallycross is concerned - from memory - it would leave us a little ill prepared when we met the mainland Europeans and the Scandinavians
