Moss honoured at Mallory last month.

Mallory owner Chris Meek put on a terrific event in honour of Sir Stirling at the circuit on the 12th of last month. Many of Stirling's and Chris's friends and BRDC members were present as the latest life size statue in the Mallory collection was unveiled. Stirling, his wife Susie and son Elliot were there and speeches were given by Raymond Baxter, John Surtees, Charles Morgan, Roger Lane-Nott of the BRDC and Chris.

Chris has personally commissioned all of the statues which stand at the circuit entrance, as his tribute to the best in British motorsport. The others unveiled at other events are of Roger Clark, Mike Hailwood, Jim Clark, Colin Chapman and John Surtees.

The Moss statue was unveiled by Chris's Russian wife with their young son and many cars of a type raced by SM were brought along by the owners. Tom Wheatcroft was there with a 250F, Vanwall and '61 Monaco GP winning Lotus 18. Many faces I have not seen for years were in attendance such as Sid Taylor, Vern Schuppan, Tony Dean and Natalie Goodwin.

Other guests included Brian Lister, Tim Parnell, Dave Brodie, the Walketts from Ginetta, Chris Craft, Stuart Graham, too many to remember! Stirling and John were on fine form, posing for photos and happy to sign autographs.
Chris always puts on terrific parties, fine food, a fascinating Q&A session with SM and Big John and Chris Meek should be applauded for these tributes we can all enjoy when visiting Mallory and indeed for saving Mallory as a race circuit back in 1982.

Raymond Baxter speaks:

Big John's turn. Sitting L-R Raymond, Susie, SM. Chris Meek standing by the statue.

SM signs copies of his books that were for sale, everyone seemed to be discussing Lewis Hamilton as probably were L-R Tony Dean, Stuart Graham, Chris Craft and Bob Dance here.

Tony Dean and Vern Schuppan. Those F5000 days at Mallory featuring these two seem long ago!

As I said, Chris always puts on a good do!

Stirling was in fine spirits, constantly having his photo taken.
