I echo wee Al's comments above and I have used my camera (Set To Video) to record the opening lap of a race. Quite useful when the

I too have also made use of the friendly snapper to compile a report - but have always made a footnote that the report was aided by "so-and-so's" photo's.....and never had a problem with it.

As for Major Incident forms I just fill in the necessary and then phone RC and ask what times I called for what - again never a problem.

I nearly always have my camera in my bag when on post. Like some have said previously, it's common sense as to when and when not to actually use it.
Also, I tend not to keep the photo's when I get home.
