Research into trackside rescue units

THE Motorsport Safety Fund (MSF) has enlisted Sheffield Hallam University’s help for a thorough evaluation of the equipment used by trackside rescue units.

University engineering student Richard Abrahams is to take a detailed look at the equipment British Rescue Units are required to carry, together with additional equipment that a number of them carry and new equipment that is becoming available.

He will talk to rescue specialists and members of the UK motorsports community about their views and assess the equipment currently in use. His research will include reporting on equipment that may have been superceded by recent developments and addressing the future for rescue equipment.

Richard will be canvassing members of the motorsports industry for their views and would welcome input from anyone who would like to contribute to this research. He will be using a questionnaire to gather opinion during the research process and is inviting anyone who would like to participate in his study to submit contact details by e-mail to richard.d.abrahams@student.shu.ac.uk
