He who wins in Melbourne wins WDC
I've noticed that ever since Melbourne became the opening grand prix, the winner of that race has gone on to win the WDC in 1996 (Damon Hill),1998 (Mika Hakkinen),2000 (Michael Schumacher, and 2001 (Michael Schumacher). And 2002 doesn't look like an exception either with MS's current form. The only exceptions were 1997 and 1999 and the champion in both years won the second race in Brazil (Villeneuve 1997, Hakkinen 1999).
Ever since Melbourne arrived, the WDC has been decided in the very first race apart from 97 and 99. |
