Viper GTE engine is very much so a much detuned GT1 engine. Which, now at 8.4 liters, is basically the same as the road Viper engine. The 8.3 and 8.4 are capacity bumped and "modernized" versions of the old 8 liter, and share the same basic design and architecture.

And much like the Corvette and F458, the Viper makes significantly less power in race trim than the road car does.
