If it works, it's works! - EJ's Ford Contract, discuss
WOW, with EJ nothing is that simple and it seems that Parry-Jones has decided that he's going racing and that Lauda isnt going to stop him. As for Jaguar "never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee."
This must be the first time that a works contract has been talked down! It seems pretty clear that Ford have decided that F1 should pay its way, this has not been happening with Jaguar. As a starter they have flogged 10,000 trucks to DHL (for 200m?)who used to run GM/Mercedes on the back of this deal, in exchange for say 50 specialist 3.5 V10's. Good busines, global branding of vehicles that people actually drive. Ford cannot say its a works deal, its a partnership because of Jaguar, but EJ isnt putting his hand in his pocket. This deal can and will be explained in several ways though we are still waiting for the Ford take on it , does anybody think that the "Ford RS1 Cosworth" engine will be even 1 horsepower down on the Jag unit, this branding is going to be used to push hot hatches to boy racers. If you dont pay for the units its a works deal right? Last edited by bosch!; 19 Aug 2002 at 18:06. |
