2019 SRO America Rounds 1 & 2: Circuit of the Americas
2019 brings a slew of changes to the former Pirelli World Challenge, now the Blancpain GT World Challenge America, Pirelli GT4 America and Pirelli TC America series.
GT3 Races are now two driver, 90 minute races with pitstops for tires, fuel and driver change in the middle. GT4 features two national championships, GT4 Sprint and GT4 Sprint-X, the latter also including entries for East and West sub championships. GT4 Sprint races are single driver, 50 minute races in classic PWC style. GT4 Sprint-X races are two driver, 60 minute races, similar to previous Sprint-X events. TC America races are 40 minute sprints for TCR/TCA and TC, respectively. Circuit of the Americas is host to the opening rounds of Blancpain GT World Challenge America (GT3), GT4 America Sprint-X and TC America events. The GT4 Sprint championship will get under way next week at St. Petersburg. GT3 The GT3 field has rebounded strongly for 2019, with a number of returning teams and some new ones. R. Ferri Motorsport returns with its Ferrari and its 2018 driver lineup, reigning series champion Toni Vilander and his fellow Ferrari factory driver Miguel Molina. Series stalwarts KPAX Racing return as well, now equipped with the new second generation Bentley Continental GT3s. Driver lineup is unchanged, with 2016 PWC Champion Alvaro Parente again joined by Bentley's Andy Soucek, and Rodrigo Baptista again paired with Maxime Soulet. The team continues to be run by the famed Flying Lizard Motorsports. Alegra Motorsports is back, now with two new Porsches and an all-new driver lineup. Car 22 will be driven by Daniel Morad and Michael De Quesada, while car 24 features Porsche veterans Wolf Henzler and Marco Holzer. Wright Motorsports returns to the series after a one-year hiatus, with two new Porsche 911 GT3Rs. 2017 champion Patrick Long and Scott Hargrove will pilot the Pro car, while the Pro/Am entry will be driven by Anthony Imperato, joined by Dennis Olsen for COTA. The Acura NSX GT3 makes its series return, now in Evo form, with a car each for Racer's Edge Motorsports and Gradient Racing, both in Pro/Am. Ferrari is well represented in the Pro/Am and Am ranks, with two cars from TR3 Racing, two cars from One11 Competition and a car each for Vital Speed Motorsports and Ferrari legends Risi Competizione. Four Mercedes-AMG GT3s will run in Pro/Am, two from DXDT Racing, one from P1 Motorsports and one from USRacetronics. The BMW M6 GT3 returns to series with Stephen Cameron Racing. In addition to the four Wright and Alegra entries, Porsche is represented at COTA by three other teams: K2R Motorsports in Pro/Am, and GMG Racing and Autometrics Motorsports in Am.
