All it does is give F1 drivers the opportunity to race in the 500, when they didn't have that opportunity before. Alonso wouldn't have had to drop Monaco in 2017.
As for oval experience, Alonso didn't have any until he underwent the Rookie Orientation Program that all drivers, who are competing in the 500 for the first time, have to do. |
