Also the VF Commodore was just called the SS here. There was another "car" called the Impala in the lineup at that time.

Thanks JH. You might laugh at the fact I had originally written something at the end of my post along the lines of "JH will put me right, he knows a lot more about Aussie cars than I do! The word nerdy was involved. I edited it out on the basis of not knowing if calling someone a nerd in your parts was considered offensive and that was far from my intent.... my intentions were more humour and respect than insult. It was easier to delete than risk offending.
The fact you did know and I was not sure ..... well, with respect and my explanation I can now reinsert the nerd word!
