This from cart.com:
"The first official practice session of the 2001 FedEx Championship opened under sunny skies and beautiful temperatures in Monterrey but, unfortunately, the new track around Fundidora Park wasn’t quite so cooperative.
CART officials red-flagged the period after 30 minutes of very slow running because the 2.1-mile road course was simply too dirty for the high-powered champ cars.
Helio Castroneves turned the fastest lap of 63.539 seconds (73.116 mph) in the Marlboro Reynard/Honda on a set of rain tires as several drivers only turned a couple of laps before deciding to park their cars."
Maybe the Indy Lights will have cleaned up the track a bit, let's hope so, 'cause next CART practice is due to start in an hour... Otherwise, I guess they'll just have to sweep the track?
