1960's scared radio reporter in a LM car-details anyone?
Wondering if any of you detail nuts can help me on this one.
Twice over the last 5 years of so, CBC radio has played a really wonderful radio piece that I am guessing is in the mid-60's. It is of a reporter commenting on being taken around a lap in a racing car, and getting himself thoroughly scared. Both times I haven't had the chance to tape it, and was wondering if any of you have heard it and know any of the details.
The memorable bits include the reporters voice slowly rising in excitement level and shrill, with lines like "OH we're braking, braking! nearly went through the windscreen!!", "god, even he looks scared!!!(the driver), loudly reeling off the increasing MPH-one hundred, one hundred and twenty, one hundred and FIFTY MILES PER HOUR!!!, and finally, when approaching the end of the lap, asking pleadingly that they pull into the pits.
The engine sounds like an 8, so I'm guessing at a GT-40, but each time, the show that it has been played on has never given any real details. I'm sure that there have been numerous reports like this, back when a "lucky" reporter could get taken for a lap in a car without a second set of seatbelts (right Hans or Ray).
I suppose that the fellow could have been putting on a theatrical show, but in any case, it is a highly entertaining bit, and I would dearly love to get a tape of it.
