The Gordon Bennett Trophy
100 years ago to the day, the first ever motor race was held on the Isle of Man - the Gordon Bennett Trial, 10th May 1904
That is a pretty historic event, and there were some stunning cars out today, to commemorate the event, on a fortunately lovely sunny day, driving the original circuit around the Island, the oldest being a 1906, and including a C-type Jaguar (driven very sportingly by the Lieutenant Governor Air Marshall Ian McFaddyen) right up to the more modern TVR Griffith and Aston Martin DB7 (both driven equally sportingly by Alex Lloyd!) I know I'm biased, living on the Island, but where else do you get the roads closed for these motorsport events?! It's a paradise I tell you! |

Sit in a chair, lift your right leg off the ground, point your toes forward and draw CLOCKWISE circles in the air with your foot. Then raise your right hand and draw the number 6 in the air with your index finger. Your foot will change direction. If you can't even do this simple coordination task, how could you drive a racing car? |
