Zetec water cooling

On a Westfield/Caterham installation of a Zetec, is the pipe that connects the water thermostat housing to the water pump (to allow faster warm up times) connected, or is the outlet on the housing blocked off, and a straight through hose used to connect the bottom of the rad to the water pump inlet?

Trying to sort out my cooling, and I wanted to know how other people approach this problem?

I'm not happy with my solution, and I want to know if theres a better way.

TIA
Graham
