Why's everyone over-reacting?
A couple of years ago, Minardi had a faulty rear wing and withdrew from the Spanish Grand Prix.
Life went on. Sauber had a faulty wing and withdrew from the Brazilan GP. Life went on. Today, Michelin had faulty tyres and withdrew from the US GP. Life goes on. There will be a French Grand Prix in a couple of weeks. No problem, other than embarrassment for Michelin. |

why is everybody overreacting?
because there are 14 forced to withdraw, because the FIA won't allow an exception, even when safety isn't garantueed. |

 14 cars didn't start a grand prix because the whole of F1 was too stupid to agree on anything that could have saved this grand prix, it has probably destroyed F1 in USA, it's made F1 look seriously bad. It was something that could have been made fine turned into a disgraceful event. And Minardi's and Sauber's thing was NO WAY near has conterversial and damaging as this. |

Seems Ferrari are not even concerned about the safety of their own drivers, allowing them to race when beer cans are being thrown at 180mph cars!
This farce will have far reaching concequences, and I could see a split on the cards. |

I agree with K-B. This is not the FIA's problem per se. Its Michelin's for not being able to comply with the championship requirements.
However the rules are plain daft to start with but that's a different issue. |

I think the issue is that a solution could not be found for the good of the event and F1 in general. It only goes to form a stark picture of why agreement on the future of F1 can never be reached.
It beg's the question that if the F1 firmament cannot agree on a immediate solution and would rather miss a race, several of the members have lost the reason why they are there. |
